Registered teams play in the classifications of 8-and-Under (mite). Coaches are volunteer parents who must be certified by USA Hockey.
Travel Mite teams participate in the Valley Hockey League with a season that begins the weekend after Labor Day and continues through early March. Per USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM), Travel Mite teams will play a season of 4 on-4 half-ice games.
An average week of Travel Mite hockey consists of team practice, a skill session run by Driscoll Skills and Skating instructors, and a weekend game. Practices are run at the Boston Sports Institute while games are played at any VHL rink (including Wellesley).
Rookie Mites is a program for players who did not make, or chose not to participate in, the Travel Mite program. The Rookie Mite season begins in late October and runs through early March.
Rookie Mite teams are balanced and participate in the Town Line League. The Town Line League plays at Bajko Rink in Hyde Park and adheres to USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM). The league plays cross-ice games with 4 cross-ice sheets in use during an hour session.
Towns playing in the Town Line League include Dedham, Westwood, Parkway, Allston/Brighton, Wellesley, Needham, Norwood, Dorchester and South Boston.
The season concludes with teams competing for the Bavis Cup in the annual tournament.
Appropriate players at least 6 years old who have completed at least one year of Learn-to-Play.
The season begins in September and runs until Mid-March.

Teams will have 1 weeknight practice with additional skill sessions added later in the season.
The Travel Mites will participate in the Valley League. Games will be 4 on-4 half-ice games. Families can expect an average of 1-2 games each weekend.
The Rookie Mites will play 3v3 cross-ice games are played on Sunday morning at Bajko Rink. Games are as early as 7:00am and are played in hourly time slots. The final games of the day will conclude at 11:00am.
Travel Mite teams will receive a Wellesley Youth Hockey reversible and game socks that will be included in the cost of registration.
As part of the Rookie Mite program, each player receives a town line team jersey and socks.
