Happy Hockey Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving from the perspective of an athlete

We give thanks for the opportunity that we have before us. The chance to compete, to make mistakes, to learn, to become a better teammate and a better athlete. We sacrifice individuality for the greater good. We block shots knowing that our teammates will race up ice as we pick ourselves up and dust off the shin pads. As leaders, we forgo individual glory as it helps the team win. We look at coaches and parents who drive us to and from countless endeavors as role models and mentors. We play for the love of the game knowing that our names will likely not be etched in a cup or that our jerseys will likely not hang in the rafters.

For all this and for so much more we give thanks to this amazing game that has brought us all so much.

Please know that we are the role models for these young athletes and the lessons we teach them have a lasting impact. We ask that you continue to stay the course and know that our young athletes are watching and learning from us. “The strength of the wolf is in the pack”
