CORI Form

Mass Hockey has adopted new procedures regarding CORI background checks for every adult member of WYHA (both coaches and managers) who is in contact with our players.     These changes are an effort on the part of Mass Hockey to follow State laws more closely and make the background check, which protects the youth hockey players of Massachusetts, more thorough and timely.  The new process requires that all WYHA volunteers to:

Print CORI Form
Submit the CORI form to an authorized WYHA board member along with a copy of your driver license for verification.
All copies of driver licenses and CORI forms will be kept in secure locked site according to State regulations.

Thank you.

Practice Plan for Goalies
Please remember to have a practice plan for your goalies as well as your players - don't let them stand around and watch drills.  Also, some drills for players may not be right for goalies.

Here are some suggestions:

(1) Appoint an Assistant Coach as your goalie coach;
(2) Get either in-house goalie coach to come to a practice to show your goalie coach some drills and teaching points;
(3) Use the drills we send out or the goalie drills found at www.usahockey.com
(4) It is OK to push a net to a small space on the ice and have your goalie coach work with the goalie one on one - working on technique is just as important as facing shots

'Be Hockey Safe' Video
Take a few minutes to watch the "Be Hockey Safe" video through the USA Hockey website.

Drill of the Week
A few drills to incorporate into your practices.  The one called 'Pre-Game Warm-Up' is excellent and goalies love it - avoid dekeing and slap shots - concentrate on shooting the puck while keeping your feet moving.
