WYHA COVID Procedures and Protocols

With the upcoming holidays and news of positive cases within schools and our program, we wanted to take this opportunity to encourage families to be as safe as they can be. Our goals are to keep our program open and safe for as long as we can. Here are a few recommendations that we wanted to pass along to our families:

  1. Please follow all rules that Mass Hockey have set forward, including universal masking, coming to the rink dressed, and distancing where possible.
  2. If you or your player have any symptoms that could be consistent with COVID-19, please do not come to WYHA activities. We encourage everyone with symptoms to get tested so that we can learn of any possible exposures and limit spread.
  3. If you or your player have been in close contact with someone who has or is suspected to have COVID-19 (such as someone who is symptomatic and waiting for confirmatory testing), please do not come to WYHA activities. Please follow the clear CDC guidelines on quarantine, which states that close contacts should quarantine for 14 days after their exposure, regardless of whether they test negative. These guidelines are consistent with those from Wellesley Public Schools.
  4. If you are awaiting a test result, please quarantine and avoid WYHA activities until that result comes back as negative. Please note that this applies to those who have received results from a rapid test, but might be still awaiting results from PCR or other.
  5. Please follow all travel guidelines for the state of Massachusetts. If you are traveling to a high-risk state (all states except for Hawaii, Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire), the Massachusetts travel order requires that travelers quarantine for 14 days or produce a negative test prior to arrival in Massachusetts. If you return to Massachusetts and are still awaiting your test result, guidelines recommend that you quarantine until that result comes back as negative. Wellesley Public Schools recommends this approach as well. We also encourage families to follow other state COVID-19 guidelines for masking, distancing, and gathering; these include universal masking, pursuing distancing where possible and limits on gatherings in indoor private residences to 10 and outdoor to 25.

We understand what a strain COVID-19 has had on all of you. We are so pleased that we’re back on the ice, and our goal is to keep things going for the benefit of the children.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We are in regular contact with the Wellesley Board of Health, and we can connect you if you need any further information.
