Learn to Play Changes and Registration Information

We have made some changes to our Learn-To-Play program. Rather than running this program in-house as we have in the past, this year we are partnering with The Boston Sports Institute (BSI), who will administer the program. There are links to the BSI offerings on our web page. In House Overview | Wellesley Youth Hockey Association.

We are not making any changes to our Mosquito program, except the name. What was traditionally the Mosquito Program, will now be called the Pre-Mite Development (PMD) Program. This program is designed to prepare young hockey players who are age eligible next season to join a WYH Mite, Squirt, U10 or U12 teams. The primary focus will remain skating development, but we incorporate the rules and concepts of hockey to each player. So if your player completed LTP last year, you are all set to sign up for Mosquitoes/PMD using the link above. Players who have not completed LTP, either our program or a similar program, are not eligible for the Pre-Mite Development (PMD) program, as the prerequisite is at least one years experience.

The cost and number of ice sessions are also unchanged from last year. Tuition is $600 for the season, which will run approximately four months, mid-November thru mid-March, with two sessions per week on average. We expect the sessions to be held on Saturdays and Sundays at the new rink, though the exact ice times are not yet known. We will update the web page and alert registered skaters when this has been determined.
